Deforestation

Rwanda is known as having a lot of beautiful nature, as it is full with trees. According to UNEP and IISD 2005:3, the natural forests of 36% that has covered Rwanda is now left  with 76 % in 1990. Furthermore, Rwanda is known as having the highest rate of deforestation rates in central Africa. After the disaster of genocide in Rwanda, the forest has been removed to make spaces for the people and road constructions so that they can rebuilt Rwanda again like it used to be. A lot of places has been removed in order to create settlements and refugees for the people to live in. For example, the Akagera National Park and Gishwasti and Mukura forests has been cleared in order to build refugee camps and resettle returnees. This caused Rwanda to be going under deforestations as the country is still healing for its disaster.

Farming and agricultural activities

After the genocide, the rwandans people are forced to farm as it is the most sourceful income at the time. The growth of towns like Butare and Cyangugu after the genocide, the unemployment rate has increased tremendously. People at the time was forced to do farming and agricultural activities as it is essential to bring back Rwanda as it used to be. While the genocide has effect the farmers intensively, those who did not flee have their time and took care of their farm. Though, there were some who flee and decided to come back they majorly lost one sowing season which is a disadvantage of them.

Spread of Malaria

Malaria has been showing up In Cyangagu and other rare areas that is rare for it to have. This has caused a huge ruckus in Rwanda. After the genocide, it has greatly increased and the leaders has come up with the answers in which they think that it is greatly caused because of the poor environmental management and poverty that caused the Malaria to spread. According to PRB (2009:4) , the spread of Malaria has increased from 3.5 % in 1982 to 48 % in 2003. Though, the government had  the National Malaria Control Programme being implemented in the country to combat the disease.
